State and Local Climate Change Initiatives in an Era of Federal Deregulation

Why You Should Attend

Following President Trump’s announcement on June 1, 2017 of his intention to withdraw from the Paris Agreement and abandon the Clean Power Plan, state and local leaders pledged to work to meet the U.S. emissions reduction commitments that were made under the Paris accord. Such climate change initiatives are not new, but have been gaining momentum in the past year in the face of federal deregulation and significant weather events across the country, such as with the “We Are Still In” coalition and declaration and the U.S. Climate Alliance. This program will take a closer look at some of the state and local efforts to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change with a particular focus on California, and the challenges posed by trying to comply with differing policies across the country.

Our distinguished panel of Fellows from the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL) will provide diverse and insightful perspectives on:

o Conducting inventories of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and pledging to reduce output
